Activated carbon

Activated carbon is a generic term that describes a family of carbonaceous adsorbents highly crystalline and highly developed internal porosity.

A wide variety of activated carbon products showing different characteristics, depending on the starting material and the activation technique used in its production.

Is a material that is characterized by a very large number of micropores (pores smaller than 1 nm radius). Because of their high micro-porosity, one gram of activated carbon can have a surface area of 500 or more.

Activated carbon is used in the extraction of metals (eg. Gold), purification of drinking water (both for drinking water treatment in the public and domestic) in medicine poisoning in waste water treatment, clarification sugar syrup, glycerin purification in gas masks in purification filters and automobile emissions drivers, among many other uses.
